Dive into our unique Arctic Botanical Complex antioxidant complex powered by traditional Nordic plants

02/06/2021 /
The Arctic area in Finnish Lapland is an exceptional place  –  The nature is pure and sparsely inhabited – leaving most of the space for wilderness to thrive. The winters here are long and freezing. During summers, the plants and berries are exposed to 24 hours of sunlight for almost a 3 month period. Due to this constant sunlight, the plants and berries bind protective agents to themselves to fight against excessive amounts of light. These abundances of protective agents work as antioxidants and other compounds that have fantastic health benefits to our skin.

Inside our signature Arctic Botanical Complex, you’ll find Chaga, Rose Root, Cloudberry fruit extract, Lingonberry seed oil, Pine Bark, and Bilberry leaf extract. Each one of these ingredients holds multiples properties but together, they turn into a beauty and wellness powerhouse, capable of targeting numerous skin woes all at once.

Chaga – While it is widely popular in Asian healing traditions, the Chaga mushroom grows on birch trees in the Northern Hemisphere. It contains high levels of beta-glucans and polysaccharides, antioxidants playing a key role in skin cell renewal and collagen synthesis. This contributes to plump and smooth skin with minimized lines.

Rose Root – Dubbed the « Ginseng of the North », Rose Root primarily grows at high altitudes and is known to survive in the Arctic climate. As a result, the plant’s bulbous roots contain a high percentage of antioxidant flavonoids that combat hyperpigmentation, keeping skin smooth and radiant. In order to protect the wild roots we use organically grown rose root.

Cloudberry – The fruit extract of the wild Nordic plant is bursting with antioxidants such as vitamins A, E, and C, which are crucial to skin health. Cloudberries also contain Omega 6 and 3 fatty acids to fight premature ageing.

Lingonberry seed oil – Found in the Arctic tundra, it has a high percentage of alpha-linoleic acid and antioxidant vitamin E for optimal skin barrier function. Studies have shown that lingonberry seed oil is effective in firming and wrinkle-reducing action.

Pine Bark – Grows in dry, sandy, or rocky soil with colder temperatures, such as the Lapland Area of Finland. Pine Bark extract, is a well-known botanical complex that has strong antioxidants and, therefore, slow-aging properties.

Bilberries – abundant from wild plants growing throughout northern Europe, Bilberries and most notably, Bilberry leaf extract is rich in antioxidants, especially polyphenols. Bilberry Leaf Extract can boost the skin’s microcirculation for a brighter complexion and a visible glow. In addition to that, it also holds toning and purifying benefits.

You can find our Arctic Botanical Complex in all our products, with the exception of our Hydrating Cleanser since it is meant to be washed off.
